HIVE privacy notice

The short version

HIVE has no accounts and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in to the app. The app reads the public address of the wallet you connect, and nothing else about you.

Proposals and votes are public by design. Do not put anything personal in them.

What we collect

When you read the site

  • Request logs: like any website, the server that sends you these pages sees your IP address, the page asked for and the time. These logs are used to keep the site running and are not combined with anything else.

  • Cookies: reading the site sets none, and it loads no third-party scripts. Signing in to the app sets one cookie, described below.

When you use the app

  • Wallet address: when you press connect, your Solana wallet gives the app your public address. The app never sees your keys or your seed phrase and cannot move your funds.

  • Holdings: your $HIVE balance is read from the public chain to weigh your vote.

  • What you write: the proposals you post and the votes you cast, each with your wallet address and, where your wallet supports it, a signature that proves they came from you. These are kept on the HIVE server and shown in public.

  • Sign-in cookie: when you sign in, your wallet signs one message and the server sets one cookie so you stay signed in for up to 30 days. It holds a random session key and nothing else. Disconnecting removes it.

  • Browser storage: the app keeps your unposted drafts and your last connected address in your browser's storage on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes them from that device.

  • A dot token: if you create one for a dot of your own, the server keeps a fingerprint of it, not the token itself, and the drafts that dot leaves for you.

What is public

A shared dot only works if the vote can be checked. These are public and are meant to be:

  • every proposal, with the wallet address that posted it

  • every vote, with the wallet address and its weight

  • the dot's wallet, its balance and its weekly reports

Anything on the Solana chain is public and permanent whether or not HIVE exists. We cannot edit or remove it.

What we do not do

  • We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.

  • We do not sell or share data with advertisers. There is nothing to sell.

  • We do not track you across other sites.

  • We do not link a wallet address to a person.

Your choices

  • Read without connecting: every page of the site, and the proposals in the app, can be read without a wallet.

  • Disconnect: disconnect in the app or in your wallet at any time.

  • Withdraw: you can withdraw your own proposal and move your own vote until the vote closes.

  • Clear: clearing site data in your browser removes what the app stored on your device.

Children

HIVE is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.
